The very last, last night of the Proms.

For the first time in decades, I did not watch the Last Night of the Proms – I remember going to the event on a few occasions in the 70s.

I have been aware for many years how the overall quality of the supposedly “greatest classical music festival in the world” has been declining, largely driven by the BBC in its desperate attempt to increase the size of the audience.

Given what I have read in the media this morning I did not miss much and it seems that the culmination of what is now a ‘Glastonburyesque’ event was politically hijacked by many and encouraged by the once great BBC. Frankly, I am surprised that the ‘chorus’ Oh Jeremy Corbyn has not been transplanted into the ‘traditional running order’ of the second half of the event!

For many years, the creeping ‘inclusivity’ of the event and the series as a whole has meant more and more non-British flags being waived by people who clearly don’t see or understand the significance of the words they are singing (or probably reading) in such as Land of Hope and Glory. According to a number of reports, the Union Jack was being sold outside the Royal Albert Hall, as usual, but this time alongside many people giving our free EU flags. So much for an un-biased BBC?!

Such is the decline of a once great, unique and patriotic event and series of concerts, the history of the dumbing down of which, can be linked closely to the ‘ownership’ and control of the BBC and its now wide and active participation in our social engineering.

This manufactured decline should be a sad day for us all, however we have now reached a point where most people have not even noticed what is happening.
